Jamila has been working with MDA for the past 12 years in a variety of casework, community development and management roles.
Jamila is the Deputy CEO of MDA and has been a member of the MDA Executive Management Team for the last eight years. Currently Jamila is responsible for overseeing MDA’s direct casework and housing services to over 4,000 newly arrived refugees and asylum seekers each year. Jamila also oversees social inclusion service delivery and MDA’s Impact, Practice Innovation and Advocacy Unit.
Jamila has a Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts (Anthropology). She has previously worked as a social worker in a hospital emergency department and in child protection.
Prior to working at MDA, Jamila lived and worked in Orissa, India for nearly four years through the Australian Volunteers International program.
