Elisabeth has worked with students from a refugee background for forty five years. She initially began as a primary school teacher in a school with a large refugee population. She then went on to train as an ESL teacher and became an ESL Consultant.
After gaining a Masters in Educational Psychology Elisabeth commenced working as a School Counsellor at Cabramatta High School Intensive English Centre. During the twenty seven years Elisabeth has been employed at Cabramatta she has had close ties with STARRTS and worked collaboratively with them and the Department of Education on a Refugee Resettlement Project.
In 2002, working with STARTTS, Elisabeth and two colleagues published Settling In – a group program to assist the settlement of newly arrived refugee and migrant students. Elisabeth has also initiated and developed a number of resource materials for schools that have been published by the Department of Education.
