Dr Fatin Shabbar
Dr Fatin Shabbar is a research and teaching academic at the University of South Australia (UniSA). She teaches a variety of psychology and social work courses at the School of Psychology, Social Work and Social Policy and she is also a Post-doctoral research associate in the Centre for Social Change (UniSA). In addition to her academic work, Dr Fatin Shabbar is a practising social worker specializing in counselling; and she is also the secretary-general of Iraqi Women’s Voice of South Australia.
Research focus: Conflict, trauma and survival; gender and war; women in political conflicts and militarization; Iraq and Middle Eastern; Arab families, cultures and societies; Islam and Muslim women in the west; postcolonial Feminism; cultural diversity; storytelling and narrative research methodologies.
